Stardate:2406.05.17 (USS Nimitz - near the holodecks - CSO Ensign Dema & OPS Ensign Tannasg - 1057) After testing the science console a bit, Jason decided to go to the holo-deck to work out a little, cause the shuttle wasn't that comfortable, he decided to go to the holo-deck near sick-bay since it was the closest, and still available After the doc patched him up, Tannasg left sickbay. But before he did, the Romulan checked the chronometers. It was almost 1500. He stepped outside, but wasn't quite sure where to go now. He was off duty, and could basically go wherever he wanted. He thought of going to the mess hall for a drink, but he also wanted to go to engineering to talk to Zzt. He stood there so caught up in his thoughts, that he didn't notice the person approaching from the left. Jason was almost at the holodeck and just about to pass sick-bay, when suddenly the door opened and someone stepped out without looking for bypassers, and Jason said with a smile: "whoa there, there aren't traffic lights here so watch your step mate." Tannasg looked at the human, not knowing what he was saying. "Traffic lights?" "You know, those lights at crossroads with green orange and red light, they tell you when you can drive through." “No, I’m not really familiar with them. But I apologize, I will be more careful next time.” Jason Smiled "it's okay, don't worry, no one was hurt, would be a shame to go back on sick-bay for a broken leg." He laughed to break the tension a bit Tannasg nodded as he looked at the young man for a moment. "I do not believe we've met. I am Tannasg, chief of operations." he held out his right hand as token of good will. He doubted the other noticed he was Romulan instead of Vulcan. As Jason reached out his hand, he said: "I'm Jason, I'm the new science officer around here, but I thought you guys do that sign, you know like this." And Jason tried to do the Vulcan greeting, but still didn't succeed in doing it. "Never mind, you know what I mean I hope..." Tannasg smiled. “This,” he did the Vulcan greeting correctly. “is the Vulcan greeting. However, I am not Vulcan.” He looked at Jason to see his reaction. Jason, who was a little surprised that he wasn't a Vulcan, found it impossible to see a Romulan on board such an advanced ship. "Not a Vulcan huh? well, the only species I know that kinda look like each other with pointy ears, sorry for the description, are Vulcans and Romulans... so that means you are a Romulan? You’re kidding me" “And the Ktarians, they also look similar. But yes, I am Romulan. One of the few in Starfleet service I believe. I am surprised you did not know. Word travels fast on a starship. Especially when it’s about someone of the same race that’s been causing a lot of trouble lately.” "What do you mean with trouble?" This time Tannasg was surprised. “The first officer told me the ship had been boarded by Romulans in the near past. And that this is the reason why children run away when they see me, and why the chief engineer attacked me.” Jason thought for a short moment....... "maybe you should wear a red nose, you know, like clowns do, maybe the children won't run away anymore, but I didn't know anything about a boarding, so I've got to disappoint you there." Tannasg nodded. ~Red nose??~ "I suppose it takes time to get over the differences. I can only hope I can prove that I am not here to harm these people." "Then smile more, and don't be so serious all the time, people feel uncomfortable near people that are to serious, so relax a little, do like me, do some sports or something, always refreshes a mind." "Romulans rarely smile. And they are serious all the time. And I sport... well... something that comes close to it." he studied Jason for a second. "What kind of sports do you do?" "That's what I mean, be an individual, you almost sound like a borg-drone you know... and I do all kinds of sports, athletics, volleyball, racketball, swimming, etc. you name it, I love sports." The Romulan thought for a second. "Do you say that to a Klingon as well when he speaks of honor? or to a Vulcan who never laughs and does not indulge in emotions?" "Honor is not an emotion, it's a thought, a way of living, I'm not telling you to indulge in emotions, but try to laugh when children are near, they are the most sensitive to it, it doesn't mean you have to feel happy, just show a smile on your face." "So you do not have a problem with Klingon way of life, but you do with the Romulan?" Tannasg sighed. "I apologize. I've been a little on edge lately. I will... try to follow your advice, about the children that is." "I don't have a problem with ways of life, only with not showing feelings, but guess that's your way of life..." Jason doubted for a moment "but no hard feelings whatsoever, and I wish you luck with the children, and if you need help, just give me a yell." Tannasg nodded. "Thank you." he simply said as he stepped aside, clearing the way for the human. "Your welcome, and feel free to join me on the holodeck if you feel like working out." And Jason went further on his way to the holodeck.’’ "I may hold you to that." Kinkaid stopped what he was doing and responded. “Kinkaid here, Captain.” Sash continued, “Dr. Kinkaid, are you a religious man, because I think our prayers have just been answered.” Kinkaid was dumbfounded for a moment by the captain’s analogical thinking. Kinkaid was pondering his own background to figure out what the captain was grasping at. Kinkaid was, indeed, a religious man, a Roman Catholic since birth from Earth. He has often referred to the good book of the old ways from time to time to reflect on and even to solve problems that are beyond the conventional means of medicine. Still, Kinkaid was drawing clues when he finally responded. “Yes, I am a religious man, Captain, but I’m at a lost on what is going on here.” Kinkaid replied. Sash answered. “A Betazoid “mind healer” will be beaming up to see if he can help Lt. Commander Winters.” Sash continued on with some concern. “Did you happen to contact the Betazed authorities?” After the concerning question, Kinkaid thought for a moment that Sash was thinking that someone from the Medical department abroad the ship had notified the planet requesting assistance for Vanyssa without his approval. Kinkaid briefing check the sickbay communication logs and found no unauthorized transmission to the planet surface from sickbay other than the basic medical transmission aboard the ship. Kinkaid immediately returned a response to the captain. “Kinkaid to Sash…No one from this section made no such transmission to Betazed authorities.” Kinkaid reported. “I see,” Sash was thoughtful. “Well, be prepared for our guest within the hour. The only constant reminders were the absence of Onyx Kateb and of Vanyssa Winters. The only thing that kept his mind occupied was the search for Jennah. It became and obsession. he was going to find that little girl if it killed someone. He continued to review the internal scans of the ship when a voice disturbed his concentration. "Incoming call from a Dr. Riven Mias, from Betazed, Captain." "On screen," Sash replied, curiously. =^=Captain, I am Dr. Riven Mias, Head of the Betazoid Clinic of Alura. There weren't tha many so it didn't take long. he found the junction where the call was made. From there he could find only three logical places that one could hide undetected. One of those was currently venting plasma exhaust so that narrowed it down to two. It was a 50/50 bet at which one she was at. He turned to Tannasg, "Ensign, you have the conn. I shall be back momentarily, I hope." At that he left the bridge and went to where he hoped to find Jennah. He had been so helpless with Nessa up until ow. Nurse Janet Sanders made final preparations of the patient, Vanyssa Winters-Dark, and reported back to Kinkaid with the status report. Kinkaid gathered the medical data on Vanyssa and compiled them into a final report for the visitor. The visitor may need the report to see what has been done to Vanyssa and try to give a further diagnosis and treatment to save her mind and telepathic abilities. The doors to sickbay slid opened. Entering sickbay were three individuals. Katie Troi, Ensign Salahari and an odd looking gentleman with long black hair and black eyes that presented an essence of arrogance to all who gaze upon him. Kinkaid made a quick mental observation of the guest and though the visitor was a professional of his field, he thought this guy was quack and a charlatan to be sure, if his voodoo magic doesn’t work. Kinkaid realized that the visitor was standing right before him waiting. Clearing his mind of all things he could do to the visitor, Kinkaid greeted him. “Welcome to sickbay, I’m Ensign (jg) BigWill Kinkaid, Assistant Chief Medical Officer.” Kinkaid continued in his southern draw, “ and whom do I have the pleasure of greeting, Sir?” The visitor identified himself, “I’m Dr. Rivan Mias of Betazed and a pleasure to meet you, Doctor.” Kinkaid and Rivan shook hands. “If you would be so kind as to tell me what has been done for Miss. Kinkaid handed Rivan a medical PADD with Vanyssa’s medical status and explained what had occurred and what the current treatment is as of right now. “Doctor, if you would be so kind as to monitor our patient physically.” Rivan instructed. He walked in and saw her lounging on the cot, and felt her in terrible pain. Something bad had happened, and she probably deserved it, but it was tearing her up inside. He saw her look up and her eyes widen. "You aren't my Riven, are you?" She asked, her voice heavy with unshed tears. "No, I'm not." He said, sitting on the stool outside the forcefield. He could feel the phaser trained at his back by the security officer, then tuned it out. "Then you come to laugh at me?" She demanded getting up and stalking over to the force-field. "You come to point at me and tell me that I deserved his death? He belonged to me. His life was mine to give or take, and I killed him all due to that asshole Angosian." Her voice rose steadily, till Riven raised one eyebrow at her. "I killed my slave." She spoke, the tears finally coming out. "My toy is dead." Riven felt the pain wash over him, even through the telepathic blocker that they had given to her. "I can't bring him back." Riven said. "I know that all you guys wanted was to go back home. But you can't. You hurt so many people in your trip through the ship...." He saw the wild anger in her eyes, as she clawed the force field and was thrown back. He winced as her head his the wall, and she struggled up, dazed. "I wouldn't repeat that." He said softly, looking around her mind for the technique used against his Vanyssa. He found it a few moments later and withdrew, not wanting to cause her any more harm than necessary. "I don't need your pity." She snarled at him. Riven looked on impassively. "But you have it. I will see what the Captain wants to do with you. A Federation penal colony is not the right place, but the Clinic would welcome you. You wouldn't be the first insane telepath we have there." He saw the sullen fire in her face, the animal lust that drove her and he shook his head and walked away. She should be executed, but that wasn't the Federations way. (reply any, none) (pb melinda) Stardate:2406.05.17 (USS Nimitz – Sickbay – Dr. Riven Mias – 2240) Rivan sat down at Vanyssa's side, and took her hand. It was so horribly cold to him. He brushed that aside, and delved deep in her mind, using the technique that he had just found to draw her back and finishing to lay the healing groundwork. He looked around and noticed that things were vastly improved from earlier. He went up another level and saw his Vanyssa sitting on a hill overlooking a stream. He needed to convince this one that it was ok to wake up. This was the one closest to the waking Vanyssa. He walked across to her, and sat down next to her. "Hello, beautiful." He said, touching her shoulder. She turned and saw him and a smile played across her face. "Riven!" She said, jumping up and hugging him. Riven thought to himself that this was a good sign. The healing had progressed farther than he thought, if she was this receptive to him. He hugged her close, petting her long red hair. He then held her away, examining her 'astral' form very closely, seeing minute variations in it. He held out his hand and sent more of his green mist into it, until she was mostly solid. She giggled, "Riven, that tickles!" "I know." He said, sitting down on the bank, and motioning for her to do the same. This was a very familiar place, behind the Clinic grounds. A place that she had spent a lot of time at. "Riven." She spoke, quite concerned. "There is something wrong with my memory." "Yes. I know. I had to fix it. Do things make sense to you?" He asked, as he saw her looking through it. He followed that with a very light mental touch and saw her nod. "I don't like the gap." She said, a little upset. "Can you fix it?" She asked. He could tell that she wasn't entirely herself yet. "Stay here. I will be back in a moment." He then went and did a few other changes, and when he came back he saw she was less confused and more solid. "Riven... I hurt a lot of people." Vanyssa said, quietly. "I know." He said. The incongruities between the person that people had seen as Vanyssa in the last several months and the person who was actually her, would bother her for a long time. He reached out and took her hand. "It isn't your fault." He said, simply but convincingly. She shook her head at him. "I killed several people, Riven!" She cried out. "Sash is never going to speak to me again. David is dead!" She was becoming hysterical, so Riven sent calm down to her. He nodded as she calmed down a bit. "It wasn't the first time you killed someone, was it?" He asked, probing for the root of the problem. "No...and it wasn't even the first time I killed with my mind." He watched as her mind flashed on the image of the assassin on top of her father. He began to wash away at the root, a problem spot that had never healed...and had festered into a phobia. She had associated all of the killing that she had ever done with that moment in her life, and used it to convince herself that she was a bad telepath, a rogue, a destroyer. He knew what this came from. Betazoids were basically pacifists. Killing was seen as a bit of an abomination, and killing with the mind.... was just wrong, according to the teachings. Vanyssa had done it 3 times in her life, all of them in a life or death situation. She was repulsed by it, upset with herself for having to do it. "Nessa." He said, hating that nickname that she referred to herself as. "Blue eyes." He said, using his own for her. She looked up at him then, tears in her eyes. "It is not your fault. You need to forgive yourself. " She shook her head and he repeated those words until she accepted them. Once she had, he got up. "Are you ready to wake up, blue eyes?" He asked quietly. She looked up at him and nodded. He withdrew, opening his eyes and coming out of trance. He got up, stretching his sore muscles. He looked at the chronometer and saw it was 0200. He shook his head and walked over to her, looking over her face. It had relaxes quite a bit, some of the worry lines had faded and her breathing was deeper. She still looked older, but not as bad as she did before. Riven leaned down and kissed Vanyssa on the lips before whispering her name with all his telepathic power, drawing her into consciousness. Her eyes fluttered open and she looked at him in recognition. "I dreamt about you!" She cried, throwing her arms around him. He very carefully probed her, and saw that the rest would heal with counseling and a lot of rest. "I missed you, Riven." She said, hugging him. She pulled back and looked at him closely. "Why are you here and why am I in sickbay?" She asked, very coherent. He quickly told her the general synopsis and she nodded, accepting it. She looked over at the medical officer that had just been called in. "You are Mr. Kincaid, are you not?" Vanyssa asked, reaching out her hand in introduction. "I'm sorry I couldn't introduce myself earlier." She said, confidently. (reply Kincaid) Vanyssa nodded. "I am very tired. And very sore." She said, realizing that her voice didn't sound right. "What is wrong with my voice? It is very raspy." She spoke. Riven sent her a picture of what she looked like, and her eyes widened. ::You are still beautiful to me.:: He said, with a laugh, just for her. This caused her to smile, and eased her out of the worry that she had been in. (reply Kincaid) "How soon will it be till I'm out of here? the Captain will need me on the bridge during this crises." She said confidently. Riven had built the memories of her being made first officer and some of the other important events from things he had pulled from the other telepaths. So she remembered the important things, but not the actual events. If he had had more time he could have reconstructed them further. (reply Kincaid or Salahari if you want to come play) Riven listened to the man speak, and realized that he was quite confident in his abilities, a good thing for a doctor. "Doctor, I'm positive I do not have to be here." Vanyssa said, frowning at the doctor. "I can recover just as easily from my quarters." ::Now, Blue eyes:: Riven sent along with a quick telepathic hug, ::You don't expect him to let you out of his lair so easily, do you?:: He asked. He had some more work to do, on helping her reconnect her telepathic abilities. he had built a shield inside her mind to which only he was keyed for the moment, otherwise she would have been wide open to the entire ship, not a good thing. Riven didn't like those suppressants, they had some nasty side-effects. A small smile formed on Vanyssa's lips. After the doctor had wandered off, Riven leaned down to give Vanyssa a kiss on the cheek. ::I'm going to go rest, ok, Blue-Eyes?:: He sent to her, holding her hand as he looked into her eyes. She nodded. ::If you need anything, tell the medical staff to call for me. I'll be here as soon as I am able too.:: She nodded again. ::Oh, Blue-Eyes.:: He said, hugging her tightly. He was exhausted. It was time to go and rest. Riven saw the little brown head peeking out from the doctor's office again. ::She'll be fine:: He sent. The brown head sent back an acknowledgment and took herself back off to hide.
